The Woman Behind the Mission: Meet Kami Glenn
At the heart of every successful venture lies a personal story that forms purpose and passion. For Kami Glenn, the founder of New Generation Educational Consulting, that story began with two extraordinary women who shaped her worldview and sparked her natural love of learning: her grandmothers.
Her paternal grandmother played a pivotal role in igniting Kami’s passion for learning. By teaching her how to read from a grocery list (She kept missing the word “bread!”), she made the world of words come alive in a practical and meaningful way. This early experience planted the seeds of patience and encouragement while teaching. (After what seemed like hours. YES! She learned how to read “bread.”)
Her maternal grandmother, on the other hand, nurtured her curiosity and sense of wonder by taking Kami on ladybug hunts each spring. These moments of exploration and discovery opened her eyes to the beauty of the natural world and the joy of learning through experience. Kami also learned that winter doesn’t last forever, either literally or figuratively.
With these strong role models guiding her, Kami followed her heart into teaching. After earning her credentials and working in the classroom, she quickly rose to top administrative positions, eventually becoming a school leader. However, despite her professional success, something was missing. Over time, the demands of paperwork, meetings, and administrative tasks began to pull her away from the core of what she truly loved — the act of teaching and the connection she had with students.
After much reflection, Kami realized that while her administrative work was important, it wasn’t where her heart lay. She decided to reclaim her passion for teaching and learning, founding New Generation as a way to make a direct, meaningful impact again. Through her consulting work, her hope is to combine her classroom experience with her administrative insights to help educators and school leaders create environments where students and teachers can thrive.
Her grandmothers' legacy continues to influence her work every day. The practical, hands-on learning fostered by her paternal grandmother and the curiosity-driven exploration from her maternal grandmother guide her mission and hiring practices at New Generation. Every consultant employed fits this model and mission of being passionate advocates for the transformative power of education. May we all realize the power and wonder in teaching excellence. Our students deserve it.
